Fasten the Ropes

1.Inspection of equipment: Before starting mooring, check all ropes and mooring equipment (such as Bollards, Fairleads and Chocks, etc.) to ensure that they are in good condition and not damaged or worn.

2. Quality and quantity of ropes: Use high-strength ropes that meet the standards, and rationally allocate the number and type of ropes according to the size of the ship, wind and tide, so as to ensure that there are enough mooring ropes to fix the ship and ensure safety.

3. Correct mooring method: According to the size and berthing position of the ship, reasonably arrange the positions and angles of the head cable, tail cable, cross cable and inclined cable to ensure the stability of the ship under the action of forces in different directions. Ensure that the cable is not too tight or too loose, and maintain proper tension.

4. Wind direction and tide: Take local wind direction and tide changes into consideration, and adjust mooring methods and cable tension to cope with possible environmental changes.

5. Coordination with shore staff: Keep communication with dock staff to ensure that they understand the mooring operation of the ship and coordinate with each other, especially when shore equipment or assistance is needed.

6. Safe operation: During mooring, the crew should wear necessary protective equipment, such as gloves and safety helmet, to prevent accidental injury. Avoid standing on the direct rebound path of the cable to avoid injury caused by the sudden break of the cable.

7. Regular inspection and adjustment: After the mooring is completed, the tension and wear of the cable should be checked regularly, especially in bad weather conditions. According to the actual situation, adjust the tightness of the cable in time to ensure that the ship is always in a safe state.

8. Emergency preparation: prepare emergency equipment, such as spare cables and life-saving equipment, to deal with emergencies. Ensure that the crew are clear about emergency procedures and escape routes.

Release the Ropes

1. Check the cable unwinding point: Before cable unwinding, it is necessary to carefully check the state of mooring points and mooring facilities to ensure that cable unwinding can be carried out smoothly and safely.

2. Confirm the ship’s status: Before releasing the cable, it is necessary to confirm that the power system, control system and other equipment of the ship are in normal working condition so as to release the cable.

3. Observing the surrounding environment: Before releasing the cable, it is necessary to observe the surrounding waters, the positions and movements of other ships, and ensure that they will not collide with other ships or obstacles when leaving the mooring.

4. Coordinate communication: If it is necessary to coordinate with onshore staff or dock operators, it should be communicated by radio or other communication means in advance to ensure that the cable unwinding operation can be carried out smoothly.

5. point-by-point cable release: according to the cable release plan, release the fixing of each mooring point one by one. In the process of cable unwinding, it is necessary to control the attitude of the ship to avoid the ship from losing control or colliding due to cable unwinding.
